Healthcare technology for patients, carers and clinicians

We assemble health programs on M4, our multi-tenant platform, across patient support, behaviour change, staff education and wellness. PatientVR, our virtual reality program for patient wellbeing, runs on M4 today.

Who We Work With

Technology that supports clinical and operational outcomes

Mobiddiction has delivered digital health programs for more than a decade. We have worked with hospitals, health departments, health marketing providers, healthcare companies and global life sciences organisations. Our work covers patient education, preventative health, consumer wellness and coaching programs, and immersive virtual reality for positive distraction and wellbeing.

In healthcare, technology is there to support clinical and operational outcomes, not the other way round. Every engagement starts by clarifying the outcomes you need for patients, carers, clinicians or members, then designing platforms that are safe, trusted and easy to use in wards, clinics, homes and workplaces.

On M4

What M4 brings to health programs

A health program should collect only what it needs. M4 switches on only the features your program uses, and nothing else is exposed.

Core · configured

Shared features every program uses as they are. We run them, secure them and keep them current for everyone.

Custom modules · crafted

Modules we craft only for your program and plug into the core, so they use features like sign-in, media, notifications and data.

Trust, Security and Privacy

Part of how we work

Working in health demands careful attention to risk, clinical sensitivity and privacy. Our security and governance framework is designed for it.

  • ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified ISMS

Our Information Security Management System is the backbone of our cyber security activities, operational controls, risk management and documentation.

  • Designed for Australian privacy law

We design with federal and state privacy legislation in mind, including NSW’s Health Records and Information Privacy Act and Queensland’s Information Privacy Act.

  • Data minimisation by design

We distinguish personal, sensitive and health information, and design systems that collect as little as possible while still meeting clinical and reporting needs.

  • At home inside hospital networks

We work with health IT teams and integrate with existing identity, clinical and reporting platforms where a program needs it.

  • Secure engineering practice

Secure coding, segregated cloud environments and structured assessment processes that support internal and external reviews.

  • Programs that run for years

Many of our health programs have run for years, through evolving cyber security expectations, consent models and regulatory change.

Immersive Health Education

VR designed to protect privacy and remove risk

Mobiddiction developed PatientVR and VapingVR to support positive distraction, education and behaviour change in controlled settings. Both were engineered for privacy from the ground up, with data minimisation as a first principle. PatientVR collects no patient or health information, and headsets play content offline once it is downloaded. Pairing a headset links the device to your organisation’s account and nothing more. That removes whole categories of risk around data transmission, storage and consent.

Collecting less data leaves less to transmit, store and protect, which keeps privacy and security reviews simple for health teams. Where compliance overhead is high and risk tolerance is low, it is a practical model for digital health programs.

Immersive VR for comfort and positive distraction

PatientVR is Mobiddiction’s virtual reality program for patient pain management, positive distraction and wellbeing in settings such as palliative care, oncology and post-operative recovery. It runs on M4, with its headsets managed through M4, and on a standalone headset with minimal set-up. It was developed over two years and has been trialled with NSW Health and Queensland’s Metro South Health.

VR for vaping awareness and behaviour change

VapingVR is an immersive education experience for young people, developed in consultation with addiction medicine specialists from the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. Four interactive modules (addiction, the brain, the lungs and a quiz) use hand tracking, so first-time VR users need no controllers or complicated set-up.

With the Starlight Children’s Foundation we delivered RocketCrew, a space-themed VR adventure created on PatientVR for the Starlight Express Rooms in the Randwick and Westmead children’s hospitals in Sydney, giving young patients on long hospital stays a moment of escape.

Apple Watch health apps from the device’s launch

We designed an Apple Watch health application with a global health provider when the device was first released. It gave us first-hand experience of sensor-based data, wearable UX and the operational constraints of large health organisations, and it still shapes how we design for wearables, notifications and glanceable information.

Patient, carer and nurse education platforms

For a global biopharmaceutical company we delivered digital tools for patient education and carer support in rare conditions and complex drug therapies, with secure education and reference material for healthcare professionals. That work meant strict privacy requirements, consent, role-based access control, audit trails, content governance and integration with existing medical education frameworks.
