PatientVR

Virtual reality for patient care, on M4

PatientVR is our virtual reality program for hospitals and clinics: pain management, positive distraction and well-being in palliative care, oncology and post-operative recovery. It runs on M4 (formerly Mobiconnect), our multi-tenant platform. For product details, demos and the content library, visit patientvr.com.

On M4

How PatientVR is assembled on M4

PatientVR uses the M4 core for sign-in, roles, media and analytics. Large stereo VR video uses extended media streaming, enabled for this program. Headset pairing, monitoring and per-headset content are a custom module crafted for PatientVR. Headsets play content offline once downloaded, and the program collects no patient or health information.

Core · configured

Shared features every program uses as they are. We run them, secure them and keep them current for everyone.

Extended capability · extended

A core feature we extend for your program, with your own fields, rules and behaviour, without changing it for anyone else.

  • Media streaming

Deliver large video by adaptive streaming, for the programs that need it.

Custom modules · crafted

Modules we craft only for your program and plug into the core, so they use features like sign-in, media, notifications and data.

Three Support Pillars

What PatientVR is designed to do

  • Pain management

A non-invasive way to support patient comfort during procedures, treatment and recovery.

  • Positive distraction

Immersive, interactive content (from calming nature landscapes to engaging gamified interactions) that provides comfort and distraction during medical procedures.

  • Well-being

Virtual environments that promote relaxation, mindfulness and engagement, so VR enhances well-being rather than serving merely as an escape.

Set-Up

Minimal set-up on a hospital ward

PatientVR runs on a standalone VR headset with no complex hardware to install. Patients interact with controllers or, where that is impractical, their hands. Our team configures each headset, loads content and trains staff so wards can start quickly.

Trials

Trialled in NSW and Queensland

PatientVR completed trials at Nepean Hospital Palliative Care and Logan Hospital with NSW Health and Queensland’s Metro South Health, and was showcased in the UK through the Investment NSW Going Global Program.
