Mobiddiction M4 powers a new digital platform for Community Shark Bite Kits

Technology helping communities prepare for the moments that matter.

Mobiddiction is proud to support the launch of the new Community Shark Bite Kits website, a digital platform designed to help coastal communities access information, locate emergency kits and become better prepared for shark bite emergencies. Built on Mobiddiction M4, the platform we assemble every program on, the new website brings together mapping, community information, resources and reporting tools into one simple, accessible experience.

Technology with a real community purpose

Community Shark Bite Kits is built around a straightforward idea: having the right equipment available when it is needed can make a critical difference. The program provides community-funded shark bite kits containing essential trauma supplies and clear incident-management information, designed to help people respond while emergency services are on their way. The new digital platform makes it easier for people to find kits, understand the program and take part in building a more prepared coastal community.

For beachgoers, local businesses and community organisations, the website provides a central place to:

  • Find a kit using an interactive location map
  • Learn through shark bite response resources
  • Report an issue when a kit is damaged, missing or has been used
  • Get involved by taking part in the community program
  • Stay informed through news, updates and FAQs

The result is a digital experience that connects the physical network of emergency kits with the people and communities they are there to support.

The Community Shark Bite Kits platform is another example of how Mobiddiction M4 brings different digital capabilities together to solve a practical, real-world problem.

M4 gives every program the same managed core, which our team configures for the program and extends where it needs something of its own. For Community Shark Bite Kits, that means the technology can support the program as it grows, rather than simply providing a static website. The interactive kit location experience is particularly important. As more kits are installed across Australia, the digital platform provides a central way for the community to discover where kits are located and connect with the resources available to them.

This also builds on Mobiddiction’s experience delivering mapping and location-based digital programs, including our work supporting DPIRD SharkSmart NSW. Read more in the Community Shark Bite Kits case study.

Building on the work that came before

A successful digital platform is rarely created in isolation. We would particularly like to acknowledge Danny Schouten and the Community Shark Bite Kits team for the vision, passion and community work behind the program. We also acknowledge Dylan and the previous development team, who helped establish the digital foundations of the project. Mobiddiction’s role has been to take that work forward, bringing the experience onto M4 and creating a foundation that can continue to evolve alongside the Community Shark Bite Kits program.

We would also like to thank the DPIRD SharkSmart NSW team for their ongoing commitment to shark safety, community awareness and preparedness across NSW. As a partner of the Community Shark Bite Kits program, we’re proud to support initiatives that empower communities and build local preparedness.

From a local idea to a growing community network

The story behind Community Shark Bite Kits is equally important.

The initiative grew from a real-life experience where a person survived a shark attack because someone nearby knew how to control a severe bleed. That experience highlighted just how important preparation can be when emergency situations occur. Today, the ambition is much bigger: helping put shark bite kits on beaches across Australia. As that network grows, so does the importance of having a digital platform that can support it.

That is where Mobiddiction M4 comes in.

Technology that connects people, places and purpose

At Mobiddiction, we’ve spent more than a decade building digital platforms for Government, Enterprise and community-focused programs. Our work spans mapping, spatial technology, mobile applications, AI, immersive experiences and large-scale digital services.

Community Shark Bite Kits brings many of those capabilities together in a simple and highly practical application.

  • A physical kit.
  • A digital map.
  • Useful information.
  • A connected community.

And behind it, a technology platform designed to help the program grow. We are proud to be part of the next chapter of Community Shark Bite Kits and look forward to seeing more kits, more communities and more beaches connected through the program.

A word from Mobiddiction

Mike Vasavada, Founder of Mobiddiction

“We love technology when it has a genuine purpose, and Community Shark Bite Kits is a great example of that. This isn’t technology for technology’s sake. It’s about connecting people with information, resources and a physical kit that could be critically important in an emergency. We’re proud to support Danny and the team, acknowledge the work of those who helped build the program before us, and bring Mobiddiction M4 into an initiative with such a strong community purpose.”
